I’m slowly making my way through images that I had taken during the end of 2013. It’s taking me a while, because I have more pressing client work to do than blogging. But I figure at 1am at night, I’m probably not at my best to be doing client work, so here I am!
I got the opportunity to head along to a workshop with the amazing photographer Brooke Holm in November of last year. It was a short photography 101 class put on by The School, and although I wasn’t sure I’d learn anything new, I wanted to go purely because it was with Brooke Holm. This woman’s photography is really perfection. It was her work with interiors that I found first and I was totally smitten. I’ve never really done any interior or architecture photography myself before, but her work alone made me want to get into it. She’s also an amazing landscape, portrait and wedding photographer! I just adore her work all round.
I was correct in thinking that I already knew everything that we went over in the class, but that was okay because I still got to pick Brooke’s brain a little, met some other lovely ladies who attended the class, got to speak with the awesome Megan Morton, and also got to enjoy looking around the lovely store Mildred & Co where the class was held. So it was still a win!
I think it’s really important to head along to things like this, keep learning and taking in as much as you can. Are you heading along to any events or workshops that you’re hoping to learn something from? Would love to hear about them (especially if they’re Auckland/NZ based)!
